un aankhon mein rang-e-mai nahin hai
un āñkhoñ meñ rañg-e-mai nahīñ hai
kuchh aur hai ye vo shai nahīñ hai
kashtī to ravāñ hai kab se shab kī
kis ghaaT lagegī tai nahīñ hai
kyā dil meñ basā.ūñ terī sūrat
ā.īne meñ aks hai nahīñ hai
dāman ko zarā jhaTak to dekho
duniyā hai kuchh aur shai nahīñ hai
āhañg-e-sukūt dam-ba-dam sun
ye sāz-e-nafas hai nai nahīñ hai

kashti to rawan hai kab se shab ki
kis ghaT lagegi tai nahin hai
kya dil mein basaun teri surat
aaine mein aks hai nahin hai
daman ko zara jhaTak to dekho

aahang-e-sukut dam-ba-dam sun
