میر مہدی مجروح اعلی پایہ کے شاعر اور غالب کے معروف شاگردوں میں سے تھے۔ ان کی شاعری میں لطف بیان اور انداز بیان کی خصوصیت پائی جاتی ہے۔مطالب ومعانی کے لحاظ سے ان کا ہر شعر بلکہ ہر مصرعہ شاعری کا اعلی و مکمل نمونہ ہے۔بند ش اور زبان وبیان کے اعتبار سےمجروح کا کلام اردو کے آخری کلاسکی دور کا ترجمان ہے۔ زیر نظر دیوان کے مطالعہ سے اس بات کا اندازہ لگایا جا سکتا ہے کہ یہ ایک ایسے شاعر کا کلام ہے جس پر مذہبی رنگ غالب ہے۔ دیوان میں غزلوں کے علاوہ قصائد، رباعیات و قطعات، ترجیع بند اور تقاریظ موجود ہیں۔ اس دیوان کو ایک بسیط مقدمہ کے ساتھ ریاض احمد نے مرتب کیا ہے۔
About The Author
He was the son of Meer Husain Nigar. He would belong to Delhi and was one of the close disciples of Ghalib. During the turbulent period of 1857, he was forced to move to Panipat and Alwar. However, his last days were quite peaceful. His deewan was published in 1898 under the pen name Mazhar Maa’ni. The language of his poetry has simple use of phraces, but sometimes it does get complicated. His poetry is mature, though not fresh and modern.
