اوڙهني ओढ़नी oṛhnī
H اوڙهني ओढ़नी oṛhnī s.f. (dim. of oṛhnā, q.v.), A woman's sheet or mantle:—oṛhnī badalnā, To exchange mantles (as a token of friendship), to pledge eternal friendship:—oṛhnī-kī batās, s.f. lit. 'The breeze from a woman's mantle'; petticoat influence.

H اوڙهنا ओढ़ना oṛhnā [oṛh˚ = Prk. ओवेड(इ), fr. S. उपवेष्ट], v.t. To cover with, to put on, wear;—s.m. (S. आवरण+कः), Covering, sheet, coverlet, quilt; a woman's sheet or mantle (covering the head and the upper half of the body):—oṛhnā utārnā (-kā), To remove the covering or veil (of); to expose, defame:—oṛhnā uṛhānā, v.t. To cover (one) with a sheet or mantle; to marry (since, among villagers, in marrying a widow a sheet or mantle is thrown over her):—oṛhnā-bićhaunā, s.m. Covering and bedding:—orhnā gale-meṅ ḍalnā (-ke), To throw (her) mantle on the neck (of), to seek justice against (in doing which, an insulted woman, in former times, used to throw her mantle round the neck of the man who insulted her, and dragged him to the king for justice).
