میر تقی میر اور محمد رفیع سودا اپنے زمانہ میں شاعری کی سُپر پاور تھے ۔ ان لوگوں نے ایہام گوئی کی سلطنت کے زوال کے بعد زبان و بیان کے نئے علاقوں کو فتح کیا تھا۔ ان قد آور شخصیتوں کا کوئی مد مقابل نہیں تھا لیکن کچھ دوسرے شعراء اپنے شعری اظہار کے لئے نئی وادیوں کی تلاش میں تھے ۔ان میں انعام اللہ خاں یقینؔ اور اشرف علی فغاںؔ پیش پیش تھے۔دونوں کا میدان عمل مضامین تازہ کی تلاش تھا۔ عبدالسلام ندوی نے تو انھیں میر وسودا کا ہم پلہ قرار دے دیا۔ فغاں فارسی اور اردو دونوں زبانوں میں اشعار کہتے تھے ۔ زیر نظر دیوان میں انکے فارسی کلام کا بھی نمونہ آخر میں دیا گیا ہے۔ اس کے علاوہ مرتب نے طویل مقدمہ کے تحت فغاں کی حالات زندگی کے علاوہ تمام اصناف پر باقاعدہ گفتگو کی ہے۔ ان کے اردو قصائد، غزلیات، رباعیات، قطعات اور ہجویات وغیرہ کو اس دیوان میں پڑھا جاسکتا ہے۔

About The Author

Ashraf Ali Khan was the foster brother of King Ahmad Shah . He practiced the craft of poetry under the guidance of Ali Quli Nadeem. Fughan was expert not only in poetry but in witticism and humour as well .That's why Ahmad Shah honored him with the title ‘Zareef-ul-Mulk’. After Durrani’s attack on Delhi, he went to Murshidabad to his uncle, Iraj Khan and from there to Awadh. After sometime he left Awadh and finally settled in Azimabad where he was appointed at the court of Raja Shatab Rai. Fughan’s divan is considered one of the finest examples of classical poetry.
