raat Dhalte hi safiran-e-qamar aate hain

raat ke dar pe ye dastak ye musalsal dastak

dil-e-nadan pe shikayat ka guman kya hoga

jism-o-jaan kis gham ka gahwara bane

ye faza-e-nil-gun ye baal-o-par kafi nahin

fazaon mein kuchh aisi khalbali thi

aah-o-fariyaad se mamur chaman hai ki jo tha

meri hayat agar muzhda-e-sahar bhi nahin

chashm-e-pur-nam abhi marhun-e-asar ho na saki

kya nazar ki hushyari KHud-asir-e-masti hai

nasim-e-subh-e-bahaar aae dil-e-hazin ko qarar aae
