Mumtaz Aziz Nazaan was born on April 11, 1964 in a Brahmin family of Kanpur. She is the wife of famous qawwal and ghazal singer Aziz Nazaan who has also sung her ghazals. Apart from writing ghazals, she also wrote for films. Her collection of poetry was published with an interesting title Ratjagon se Khwab Tak.
