Government Urdu Library, Patna, is one of Bihar’s prominent government libraries, established in 1938 with the objective of preserving and promoting the Urdu language and literature. For more than eight decades, the library has played a significant role in safeguarding the literary, cultural, and intellectual heritage of Urdu. Its primary mission is to preserve rare Urdu publications, provide quality academic resources to scholars, students, and literature enthusiasts, and pass on the rich literary tradition of Urdu to future generations.

The library houses a valuable collection of over 40,000 books, journals, periodicals, and reference works covering Urdu research, literary criticism, poetry, fiction, history, and other related disciplines. It serves as an important academic resource for researchers, teachers, students, and readers interested in Urdu literature.
