Sundarayya Vignana Kendram (SVK), Hyderabad is a renowned academic and research institution established in 1988 by a voluntary trust in memory of Puchalapalli Sundarayya. The institution was founded with the objective of preserving, promoting, and facilitating research on India's history, culture, and civilizational heritage by building a comprehensive repository of scholarly resources for researchers and readers. Since its inception, SVK has remained committed to preserving rare collections in multiple languages while continuously expanding its holdings with new publications.

The library's core collection originated from Sundarayya's personal library and was subsequently enriched by the private collections of several eminent writers, poets, and public figures. Distinguished personalities such as Dr. Arudra, Dasarathi, and Bezawada Gopala Reddy donated their personal collections to the institution. Today, the library houses approximately 2.5 million books, journals, and other research materials, including significant collections of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Telugu, Urdu, and English literature. In 1996, it also acquired the valuable holdings of the Mohammed Abdul Samad Khan Urdu Research Centre, although part of that collection was damaged during the floods of August 2000.

SVK also plays an active role in making rare scholarly resources globally accessible. It is a partner institution in the Digital South Asia Library (DSAL) initiative, an international project dedicated to digitizing and providing access to South Asia's historical and rare research materials. Sundarayya Vignana Kendram is one of the three Indian institutions participating in this initiative. A significant portion of its scholarly collection is also available through the Rekhta Digital Library, enabling readers and researchers around the world to access this valuable intellectual heritage online.
