اس کتاب میں ہر دور کے مستند شعراء کے چیدہ چیدہ اشعار اور ان کی خصوصیات کا ذکر ہے۔ اس میں پانچ قسم کے اشعار کو شامل کیا گیا ہے۔ َ قصائد ، مراثی ، مختلف نظمیں، غزلیات اور رباعیات۔ خاص بات یہ ہے کہ ہر نئی قسم کی نظم سے پہلے نظم کی قسم، اس کی تعریف وغیرہ بھی لکھ دی گئی ہے۔ متروکہ الفاظ کے متعلق نوٹ لکھا دیا گیا ہے، کسی واقعہ کی طرف اشارہ ہے تو حاشیے میں اس واقعہ کا ذکر کردیا گیا ہے اور اگر کوئی مشکل لفظ ہے تو اس کی تشریح بھی کردی گئی ہے۔ آخر میں تمام مصنفین کے سوانح حیات اور ان کے طرز تحریر کے متعلق نوٹ لکھ کر بطور ضمیمہ شامل کیا گیا ہے۔انتخاب میں اس بات کی کوشش کی گئی ہے کہ پڑھنے والے کی اخلاقی، تمدنی ، عمرانی، روحانی اور ادبی رہنمائی ہو۔

Naseem Amrohvi belonged to the noted Taqvi Syed family.  Born as Syed Qasim Raza to Syed Barjees Hussain Taqvi and Syeda Khatoon, he adopted the pen name ‘Naseem’.

In 1950, he migrated to Pakistan after partition of India and Pakistan, settling in Khairpur. Later in 1961, he moved to Karachi and lived there till his death.

He was a member of Urdu Lughat Board and compiled an Urdu dictionary ‘Naseem-ul-Lughat’ over a span of several years. For every word, the dictionary provides not only its meaning, its usage, its related proverbs but also the verses containing it.

Islamiya University, Bahawalpur grants Doctorate degrees on Naseem Amrohvi.

Khutbat-e-Mushran, Adabi Kahaaniyan, Naseem-ul-Lughat, Musaddas-e-Naseem, Farhang-e-Iqbal are the titles of some of his works.
