Maktaba Jamia Limited, New Delhi, is one of the oldest and most distinguished Urdu publishing houses in India. Established in 1922, it initially functioned as a publishing department of Jamia Millia Islamia before being incorporated as a limited company. For over a century, the institution has played a significant role in promoting Urdu language, literature, education, and publishing, with its branches extending to several major cities across the country. It has also made a lasting contribution to strengthening the academic and literary traditions of Jamia Millia Islamia.

From its inception, Maktaba Jamia adopted the mission of publishing high-quality books at affordable prices. Over the years, it has published thousands of books covering literature, literary criticism, research, translations, children's literature, education, and a wide range of other subjects. In 1926, it launched the renowned children's magazine Payam-e-Taleem, followed by the literary journal Kitab Numa in 1960, which received contributions from many of the leading Urdu poets, writers, critics, and journalists of its time. These publications played a vital role in promoting Urdu literature and cultivating a culture of reading among younger generations.
