Identity: Renowned Poet, Linguist, Lexicographer, and creator of the famous ghazal "Woh Humsafar Tha."

Naseer Turabi was born on June 15, 1945, in Hyderabad Deccan, and belonged to the scholarly family of the prominent orator Allama Rasheed Turabi. After the partition of India, he migrated to Pakistan and obtained an M.A. in Public Relations from the University of Karachi in 1968.

He began his professional career in the insurance sector, but his true identity was forged through his scholarly and literary work. Starting his journey in poetry in 1962, he bestowed new dimensions upon the Urdu ghazal through his creative works. Naseer Turabi gained immense public popularity when his ghazal "Woh Humsafar Tha" was featured as the title song of the Pakistani drama serial Humsafar. The verses of this song left a deep impact on the audience, making him a household name, although his core identity always remained that of a serious ghazal poet.

His scholarly contributions were not limited to poetry alone; he was also an expert in linguistics and lexicography. His poetic collections include Aks-e-Faryadi and Lareb (Naat and Manqabat). For the book Lareb, he was honored with the Allama Iqbal Award by the Pakistan Academy of Letters. His book Sheriyat, which discusses the nuances of poetry and correct spellings, is considered an important document in Urdu literature. His style was a beautiful blend of tradition and modernity, characterized by meticulous attention to the correctness of language and expression.
