Hina Rizvi on Why Support Matters for Women in Urdu Poetry | Rekhta Room | Season 1 | Episode 5 . For years her poetry lived in diaries nobody else read. Hina Rizvi joins Faisal Fehmi in the Rekhta Room to talk about how she got from there to reciting on a stage. She grew up in a literary household in Lucknow, found her rhythm in the 6th grade, and spent her childhood in rooms where poets like Waseem Barelvi and Rahat Indori turned up as guests. Those evenings did most of the early work on her. The heart of the conversation is what support actually does for an artist. She's direct about it. Her husband's encouragement is what moved the poetry out of private notebooks and into the world, and she talks about what women in the literary scene are still up against, and how much social media has changed who gets a platform at all. She closes by reciting her recent work, offering a glimpse into the emotional depth and craft of her poetry. .
