صاحب ṣāḥib

A صاحب ṣāḥib, corr. ṣāḥab, ṣāb (act. part. of صحب 'to associate,' &c.), adj. Possessing, possessed of, endowed with (used in comp.; see below);—s.m. Companion, associate, comrade; possessor, owner, lord, great man, governor, chief; (in some Hindī dialects) God;—a gentleman, a European gentleman; a title of courtesy, Master, Mr., Sir:—ṣāḥib-ě-iḵẖtiyār, s.m. One possessed of free election or option; a sovereign, &c.; one invested with authority or power:—ṣāḥib-ě-aḵẖlāq, adj. & s.m.
