Zulfiqar

Zulfiqar was the name given to the legendary sword of Prophet Muhammad which was used by his cousin and son-in-law Ali Ibn Abi Talib during the battle of Uhud. It had a peculiar shape as the long blade bifurcated into two ends. In the battle of Uhud, the Muslim army faced a very big army led by a person called Amr bin Abdu Wud. He was huge and strong and was considered to be the greatest warrior in Arabia. On the battlefield, he challenged the Muslim Army to send a worthy opponent. While Prophet Muhammad ignored his taunts and insults, Ali could take it no more and he offered to kill the giant. At this point, the Prophet gave this sword to him to face him. Amr was eventually killed and thus began the journey of the sword that would go on to slay many more enemies in battles. Till this day, some Middle Eastern weapons are inscribed with a quote mentioning Zulfiqar.
