ḳhāmushī achchhī nahīñ inkār honā chāhiye
ye tamāshā ab sar-e-bāzār honā chāhiye
KHamushi achchhi nahin inkar hona chahiye
ye tamasha ab sar-e-bazar hona chahiye
ham to samjhe the ki ham bhuul ga.e haiñ un ko
kyā huā aaj ye kis baat pe ronā aayā
hum to samjhe the ki hum bhul gae hain un ko
kya hua aaj ye kis baat pe rona aaya
reḳhte ke tumhīñ ustād nahīñ ho 'ġhālib'
kahte haiñ agle zamāne meñ koī 'mīr' bhī thā
reKHte ke tumhin ustad nahin ho 'ghaalib'
kahte hain agle zamane mein koi 'mir' bhi tha
hañs ke farmāte haiñ vo dekh ke hālat merī
kyuuñ tum āsān samajhte the mohabbat merī
