Murlidhar Sharma is known in the literary world as "Murlidhar Taalib". He was born on 20th July 1977 at Mandi Aadampur in the District Hisar, Haryana. He got his education upto graduation in his home town Mandi Aadampur and Post Graduation from Punjab University, Chandigarh. Later he moved to the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi for M. Phil. He appeared in the civil services examination in the year 2005 and got selected for the prestigious Indian Police Service (IPS). Post training he was allocated the West Bengal cadre and got appointed there. He was first appointed as Superintendent of Police of the Birbhum District and later as Deputy Commissioner of Police (south), Kolkata. Presently he is posted as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (STF) in the Kolkata City Police.
