Parveen Shaghaf is a sensitive, dignified, and powerful feminine voice in contemporary Urdu poetry. Her real name is Shagufta Parveen. She was born on 14 May 1980 in Bihar Sharif, Nalanda district, Bihar. She spent her early years and received her initial education in Kolkata and has been residing in Delhi for several years. She holds a bachelor's degree in Urdu and has continued her higher education alongside her literary and creative pursuits.

Parveen Shaghaf's poetry reflects the bittersweet experiences of life, inner anguish, love, self-surrender, feminine sensibility, and social attitudes with remarkable simplicity and seriousness. Her first poetry collection, Zindan, was published in 2024 and received considerable attention in literary circles. On 9 October 2026, the Delhi Urdu Academy honoured her with an award for her poetry collection Zindan. Several renowned singers have lent their voices to her poetry. She has also participated in numerous national and international mushairas, literary gatherings, and programmes broadcast by All India Radio and Doordarshan.

Beyond poetry, she has made valuable contributions to prose. Her short-short stories, essays, and writings on literary personalities have appeared in reputed magazines and journals across the country. She compiled Asad Badayuni's poetry in Devanagari script under the title Tujh Se Bichhad Ke. Her forthcoming book, Ghamzada Aur Bhi Hain Shehar Mein, explores the life and literary contributions of Asad Badayuni.

Parveen Shaghaf is actively involved in social and literary initiatives. She serves as the president of the Solitaire Literature Foundation and is a member of the advisory board of the quarterly digital magazine Mauj-e-Khayal. In recognition of her literary contributions, she has received several national and international honours, including the Global Adabiyat Urdu Lifetime Achievement Award (United Kingdom, 2023) and the India Poets Conference Qatar Award (2023).
