Renowned Urdu poet Parkash Fikri was born in Ambala in 1930. Prakash whose real name was Zahirul Haque was the son of Maulvi Mohammad Zakaria, an Arabic teacher by profession. Fikri is considered as a contemporary voice in Urdu poetry. His poetry collections 'Lab Mamaas', 'Safar Sitara' & 'Ek Zara Si Baarish' are highly acknowledged. He passed away in 2008.
