Dr. Mohammad Ilyas Al-Azami is a well-known Urdu author, researcher, and critic who has made significant contributions, particularly in the field of Shibli studies. He is regarded among those scholars who have earned a respected place in the academic world of Urdu through research and critical scholarship.
Ilyas Azmi was born on 23 September 1966 in Maharajpur, district Azamgarh. After his early education, he pursued higher studies and obtained an M.A. in Urdu from Agra University. He later completed his PhD from Purvanchal University (Jaunpur).
Dr. Ilyas Azmi is currently an honorary fellow of Darul Musannifin Shibli Academy and is associated with several national and international academic and research institutions and journals.
His scholarly work spans a wide range of subjects; however, his research on Shibli Nomani is particularly significant. He has devoted many years to studying Shibli Nomani’s personality, ideas, and scholarly contributions, producing a valuable body of academic work in this field.
