aah wo kaun tha KHuda-mara
aah vo kaun thā ḳhudā-mārā
jis ne us se mujhe lagā maarā
ek hai tū bhī bad-balā ai chashm
dil ko phir zulf meñ phañsā maarā
kyā ġhazab bhī vo jumbish-e-abrū
saaf jis ne ki nīmchā maarā
ba.ad muddat mile the kal un se
aaj logoñ ne phir laḌā maarā
vasl kī shab bhī maiñ na soyā aah
shab-e-hijrāñ ke ḳhauf kā maarā
aah wo kaun tha KHuda-mara

kya ghazab bhi wo jumbish-e-abru
saf jis ne ki nimcha mara
baad muddat mile the kal un se
