ai aawara yaado phir ye fursat ke lamhat kahan
ai āvāra yaado phir ye fursat ke lamhāt kahāñ
ham ne to sahrā meñ basar kī tum ne guzārī raat kahāñ
merī ābla-pā.ī un meñ yaad aksar kī jaatī hai
kāñToñ ne ik muddat se dekhī thī koī barsāt kahāñ
be-his dīvāroñ kā jangal kaafī hai vahshat ke liye
ab kyuuñ ham sahrā ko jaa.eñ ab vaise hālāt kahāñ
jis ko dekho fikr-e-rafū hai jis ko dekho vo nāseh
bastī vāloñ meñ haar aa.e vahshat kī sauġhāt kahāñ

hum ne to sahra mein basar ki tum ne guzari raat kahan
meri aabla-pai un mein yaad aksar ki jati hai
kanTon ne ek muddat se dekhi thi koi barsat kahan
be-his diwaron ka jangal kafi hai wahshat ke liye
ab kyun hum sahra ko jaen ab waise haalat kahan
jis ko dekho fikr-e-rafu hai jis ko dekho wo naseh
basti walon mein haar aae wahshat ki saughat kahan
