bas ek shai mere andar tamam hoti hui
bas ek shai mire andar tamām hotī huī
mirī hikāyat-e-jāñ sust-e-gām hotī huī
maiñ raat apne badan kī sadā se laḌtā huā
aur is kī ḳhāmushī mahv-e-kalām hotī huī
ye hirs-e-shab hai yā koī havā-e-hastī hai
jo roz roz hai yuuñ be-lagām hotī huī
badī baḌī hī adā se jahān-e-hastī meñ
ḳharāb hote hue nek-nām hotī huī
ajiib rañg badaltī huī mirī duniyā
ba-zer-e-shām-e-safar nīl-gām hotī huī

main raat apne badan ki sada se laDta hua
aur is ki KHamushi mahw-e-kalam hoti hui
ye hirs-e-shab hai ya koi hawa-e-hasti hai
jo roz roz hai yun be-lagam hoti hui
badi baDi hi ada se jahan-e-hasti mein
KHarab hote hue nek-nam hoti hui
ajib rang badalti hui meri duniya
ba-zer-e-sham-e-safar nil-gam hoti hui
