ye kaun sar-buland huā dekhte chaleñ
aa.egā phir chaman pe tasarruf kā vaqt bhī
pahle qafas kī āb-o-havā dekhte chaleñ
jaate the ham to pher ke muñh jalva-gāh se
lekin dil o nazar ne kahā dekhte chaleñ
haañ ik nazar 'hafīz' pe ibrat ke vāste
kyā rah ga.ī hai qadr-e-vafā dekhte chaleñ

aaega phir chaman pe tasarruf ka waqt bhi
pahle qafas ki aab-o-hawa dekhte chalen
jate the hum to pher ke munh jalwa-gah se
lekin dil o nazar ne kaha dekhte chalen
han ek nazar 'hafiz' pe ibrat ke waste
kya rah gai hai qadr-e-wafa dekhte chalen
