hai dard kitnā ye bas ham-ḳhayāl pūchhegā
vagarna husn to apnā jamāl pūchhegā
sitam ye kam hai ki vo sāmne hai nazroñ ke
ab ek aur sitam dekho haal pūchhegā
usuul qā’eda jazbāt 'ishq kī bāteñ
mire nisāb se bāhar savāl pūchhegā
laboñ se baat agar dil kī ho to achchhā hai
yūñhī tū āñkhoñ se kab tak savāl pūchhegā
kuchh aur pūchhe na pūchhe koī malāl nahīñ
malāl hogā agar indimāl pūchhegā
