hum hain aur na-murad qismat hai
ham haiñ aur nā-murād qismat hai
kyā yahī hāsil-e-mohabbat hai
qaid-e-sayyād meñ ḳhayāl-e-chaman
gar qayāmat nahīñ to aafat hai
shauq betāb husn mustaġhnī
ishq kī zindagī musībat hai
jis kī tafsīr donoñ aalam haiñ
vo faqat ek lafz-e-ulfat hai
