hum taghaful ko ibtida samjhe
ham taġhāful ko ibtidā samjhe
aur vo dard kī davā samjhe
vo to begāngī meñ the goyā
aur ham un ko āshnā samjhe
shorish-e-dil ne jo kahā ham se
is ko ham hukm aap kā samjhe
un se qaa.em huā hai naqsh-e-vafā
koī un ko na bevafā samjhe
āshnā-e-murād-e-sāhil hai
vo jo tūfāñ ko nāḳhudā samjhe
kal sar-e-bazm in ishāroñ se
kahiye 'ḳhurshīd' aap kyā samjhe
