ik pal kahīñ ruke the safar yaad aa gayā
phūloñ ko hañstā dekh ke ghar yaad aa gayā
titlī ke saath aa.ī tirī yaad bhī hameñ
rakkhā huā kitāb meñ par yaad aa gayā
baiThe the jis kī chhāñv meñ ham donoñ muddatoñ
kyā jaane aaj kyuuñ vo shajar yaad aa gayā
sarhad se koī aayā hai phir ḳhuun māñgne
ik maañ ko apnā laḳht-e-jigar yaad aa gayā
pheñkā thā maiñ ne tanz kā patthar kisī kī samt
'ġhālib' kī tarah apnā hī sar yaad aa gayā
ek pal kahin ruke the safar yaad aa gaya
phulon ko hansta dekh ke ghar yaad aa gaya
titli ke sath aai teri yaad bhi hamein
rakkha hua kitab mein par yaad aa gaya
baiThe the jis ki chhanw mein hum donon muddaton
kya jaane aaj kyun wo shajar yaad aa gaya
sarhad se koi aaya hai phir KHun mangne
ek man ko apna laKHt-e-jigar yaad aa gaya
phenka tha main ne tanz ka patthar kisi ki samt
'ghaalib' ki tarah apna hi sar yaad aa gaya
