KHuda-shanas bahut hum bhi the magar ab ke
ḳhudā-shanās bahut ham bhī the magar ab ke
vo maar dil pe paḌī hai ḳhudā ko bhuul ga.e
bas ek chashm-e-zadan meñ guzar ga.ī duniyā
baḌe jatan the isī umr-e-yak-nafas ke liye
vo shakl sāmne rahtī hai kuchh nahīñ kahtī
taras gayā huuñ bahut lazzat-e-suḳhan ke liye
firāq-e-dīda-o-jāñ dil samajh nahīñ paatā
farār-e-dīda-o-dil tū hī ab tasallī de

bas ek chashm-e-zadan mein guzar gai duniya
