TuuT kar andar se bikhre aur ham jal-thal hue
tujh se jab bichhḌe to itnā ro.e ham bādal hue
the kabhī ābād jo zaḳhmoñ ke phūloñ se yahāñ
dekhnā vo shahr is mausam meñ sab jañgal hue
dhuup se mahrūmiyoñ kī the hirāsāñ log sab
ruuh ke āzār se kuchh aur bhī pāgal hue
jin se vābasta thī 'shabnam' zindagī kī har ḳhushī
aah kaise log the nazroñ se jo ojhal hue
