uske hasin ruKH pe ajab rang-o-nur tha
us ke hasīn ruḳh pe 'ajab rang-o-nūr thā
kuchh bhī kaho vo sāhab-e-īmāñ zarūr thā
ik mohtaram ne sab ko kiyā vāqif-e-hayāt
insāñ ko us se pahle na koī shu'ūr thā
matlab na thā kuchh us ko furū'āt-e-zīst se
‘ilm-o-ḳhirad kā us ko kuchh aisā surūr thā
dekhā use to dekhtā hī dekhtā rahā
mahv-e-jamāl aisā dil-e-nā-subūr thā
hai chand-roza shai ye use kuchh ḳhabar na thī
apne shabāb-o-husn pe itnā ġhurūr thā
us ke hasin ruKH pe 'ajab rang-o-nur tha
kuchh bhi kaho wo sahab-e-iman zarur tha
ek mohtaram ne sab ko kiya waqif-e-hayat
insan ko us se pahle na koi shu'ur tha
matlab na tha kuchh us ko furu'at-e-zist se
‘ilm-o-KHirad ka us ko kuchh aisa surur tha
dekha use to dekhta hi dekhta raha
mahw-e-jamal aisa dil-e-na-subur tha
hai chand-roza shai ye use kuchh KHabar na thi
apne shabab-o-husn pe itna ghurur tha
