    yaqīn had se baḌhā thā gumān se pahle

    jabīñ pe zaḳhm sajā thā nishān se pahle

    use bhulāne ke raste meñ kitnī yādeñ thiiñ

    shadīd dhuup milī sā.ebān se pahle

    phir us ke ba.ad havāoñ se jang kartā rahā

    diyā jalā thā baḌī ān-bān se pahle

    mire ḳhilāf muqābil na thā munāfiq thā

    javāb DhūñDh rahā thā bayān se pahle

    natīja us ke haq meñ hai ab mohabbat

    jo saath chhoḌ gayā imtihān se pahle

    charāġh-e-shām sūrat meñ us yaad aa.ī

    añdhere phailte jaate the shaan se pahle

    tamām shahr ne izzat usī se hāsil

    jo rasm aa.ī hamāre makān se pahle

    dayār-e-jāñ pe bhī kuchh bārish-e-karam ho jaa.e

    basāo dil bhī kisī makān se pahle

    shikasta dil ke liye the jo aasrā 'ādil'

    vo taare TuuT ga.e āsmān se pahle

    phir us ke baad hawaon se jang karta raha

    mere KHilaf muqabil na tha munafiq tha

    jawab DhunDh raha tha bayan se pahle

    natija us ke hi haq mein hai ab mohabbat ka

    jo sath chhoD gaya imtihan se pahle

    charagh-e-sham ki surat mein us ki yaad aai

    andhere phailte jate the shan se pahle

    tamam shahr ne izzat usi se hasil ki

    jo rasm aai hamare makan se pahle

    dayar-e-jaan pe bhi kuchh barish-e-karam ho jae

    basao dil bhi kisi ka makan se pahle

    shikasta dil ke liye the jo aasra 'adil'
