ye wasl nahin to aur kya hai
ye vasl nahīñ to aur kyā hai
ā.īne se aks boltā hai
ab kis se kyā karoge bāteñ
ā.īna to aks kho chukā hai
ye hijr-o-visāl jis meñ ham haiñ
ai lazzat-e-dard intihā hai
is qarya-e-shab meñ chāñd mere
ġham bhī tirā raushnī-fazā hai
mat pūchh akele ghar kī vahshat
miTTī kā makān gūñjtā hai
ye wasl nahin to aur kya hai
aaine se aks bolta hai
ab kis se kya karoge baaten
aaina to aks kho chuka hai
ye hijr-o-visal jis mein hum hain
ai lazzat-e-dard intiha hai
is qarya-e-shab mein chand mere
gham bhi tera raushni-faza hai
mat puchh akele ghar ki wahshat
miTTi ka makan gunjta hai
