aadmī itnā bhī tanhā to nahīñ thā pahle
har taraf sham-e-mohabbat ke ujāle the yahāñ
sūrateñ thiiñ ye añdherā to nahīñ thā pahle
daav par jazba-e-ulfat ko lagā dete the log
phir bhī dil itnā shikasta to nahīñ thā pahle
dekh lete the isī ruuh ke andar ḳhud ko
ā.īna ham pe adhūrā to nahīñ thā pahle
kabhī jal jaate the rāhoñ meñ lahū ke bhī charāġh
raushnī par koī pahrā to nahīñ thā pahle

aaina hum pe adhura to nahin tha pahle
kabhi jal jate the rahon mein lahu ke bhi charagh
raushni par koi pahra to nahin tha pahle
