    jo ai māh-e-'arab 'ālam zīnat ho gayā

    nuur terā kis ke jalve bashārat ho gayā

    nuur terā dāfe'-e-āsār-e-zulmat ho gayā

    ek 'ālam ke liye sham'-e-hidāyat ho gayā

    ġham tirā aayā hai dil meñ 'aish sāmāñ liye

    duur kulfat ho ga.ī andoh ruḳhsat ho gayā

    bichh ga.ī hai chādar-e-ḳhār-e-muġhīlāñ dasht meñ

    tere vahshī ke liye sāmān-e-rahmat ho gayā

    sāda-dil 'āshiq ki thā mushtāq terī diid

    dekh kar ā.īna-e-dil mahv-e-hairat ho gayā

    kyoñ na manzūr-e-nazar ho tere kūche ġhubār

    'ain ye to surma-e-chashm-e-basīrat ho gayā

    rū-e-anvar tasavvur vaj.h-e-ḳhāmoshī huā

    ik parī jalva thā dīvāna 'vahshat' ho gayā

    tu jo ai mah-e-'arab 'alam ki zinat ho gaya

    nur tera kis ke jalwe ki bashaarat ho gaya

    nur tera dafe'-e-asar-e-zulmat ho gaya

    ek 'alam ke liye sham'-e-hidayat ho gaya

    gham tera aaya hai dil mein 'aish ka saman liye

    dur kulfat ho gai andoh ruKHsat ho gaya

    bichh gai hai chadar-e-KHar-e-mughilan dasht mein

    tere wahshi ke liye saman-e-rahmat ho gaya

    sada-dil 'ashiq ki tha mushtaq teri did ka

    dekh kar aaina-e-dil mahw-e-hairat ho gaya

    kyon na manzur-e-nazar ho tere kuche ka ghubar

    'ain ye to surma-e-chashm-e-basirat ho gaya

    ru-e-anwar ka tasawwur wajh-e-KHamoshi hua

    ek pari ka jalwa tha diwana 'wahshat' ho gaya
