sāf-o-shaffāf jhīloñ kī vo machhliyāñ
vo taḌaptī huī machhliyāñ
ḳhūb-sūrat thiiñ
aur ek din vo unheñ maar kar khā ga.e
sāf-o-shaffāf jhīloñ meñ ab ḳhuun kī dhaar hai
saf-o-shaffaf jhilon ki wo machhliyan
wo taDapti hui machhliyan

aur ek din wo unhen mar kar kha gae
