id ka chand
lo phir ufuq pe aaya nazar iid kā hilāl
phir yaad aaya mujh ko koī paikar-e-jamāl
aane lage haiñ zehn meñ maazī ke phir ḳhayāl
betāb ho ke kar hī diyā dil ne ye savāl
is saal bhī kisī kī mujhe ho sakegī diid
is saal bhī 'zafar' ye kaho ho sakegī eid
sun kar savāl dil kā maiñ ranjūr ho gayā
patthar se jaise shīsha koī chuur ho gayā
pī kar ġham-e-hayāt ko maḳhmūr ho gayā
utrā nasha to kahne pe majbūr ho gayā
kyā us kī eid hogī jo bichhḌā ho yaar se
sūkhe hue shajar ko ġharaz kyā bahār se
