safed surañgoñ jaise
agar do ḳhvāb hote
sahmī huī ḳhāmosh rātoñ meñ
jāgne ke liye
sone ke liye
agar do jangal hote
pur-asrār bhaTakne ke liye
yā duniyā-dāroñ se kaTne ke liye
agar do parinde hote
mohabbat ke liye
agar do sarāb hote
pyāsā jiine ke liye
pyāsā marne ke liye
agar do kahāniyāñ hotīñ
qadīm chaTTān par kanda
nā-qābil-e-fahm nuqūsh meñ madfūn
yaad karne ke liye
bhuul jaane ke liye
agar do giit hote
mere jiite jī
āḳhirī hichkī lene ke liye
yā mere ba.ad kuchh pal
mujhe rone ke liye
agar do sitāre hote
sub.h-e-kāzib kī dahlīz par
chamakne ke liye
bujhne ke liye
umr guzār kar
maiñ sochtā huuñ
ye mumkin nahīñ
is duniyā kī be-intihā.ī meñ
do chīzeñ nahīñ hotīñ
sivā.e do tanhā.iyoñ ke
tū
aur maiñ
