jab tak thā dam meñ dam na dabe āsmāñ se ham
jab dam nikal gayā to zamīñ ne dabā liyā
when my breath had force, the skies did not restrain me
when my breath has gone, the earth does now contain me
jab tak tha dam mein dam na dabe aasman se hum
jab dam nikal gaya to zamin ne daba liya
