Profile of Iqbal Khusro Qadri
Iqbal Khusro Qadri, whose real name is Imtiyaz Pashah Qadri, was born on 2 May 1965. He has been actively engaged in Urdu poetry for several decades. To refine his poetic craft, he sought guidance from the renowned poet and ustad Sagar Jaidi of Kadapa. His poetry is strongly influenced by modernism while remaining rooted in the classical tradition of Urdu poetry. Ghazal, nazm and rubai, along with innovative vocabulary, unusual combinations, symbolism and new modes of expression, are among the distinctive features of his work. Rather than rejecting tradition altogether, he seeks to create a meaningful synthesis between tradition and modernity. His major works include Minhaj, Madraka, Ayan, Simiya, Aurang, Asfar, Yamini, and Jawānib. He has also contributed to Urdu literary research and criticism and has established a distinctive place for himself in the literary circles of Kadapa.
