Sufi Mohammad Tanveer Sajid Naqshbandi, widely known by his pen name SAJID Naqshbandi, was born on 12 May 1955 in Amravati, Maharashtra. Despite a childhood marked by financial hardships, his determination for knowledge led him to enroll at Jamia Arbia Islamiya at the age of seven, where he completed Hifz, Aalim, Fazil, and Qari courses by the age of eighteen.
Alongside his religious education, he pursued secular studies, appearing directly for 10th grade, and later earned an M.A. in Urdu and Arabic from Morris College, Nagpur. He also acquired an Adeeb degree in Urdu Literature from Aligarh Muslim University, as well as Munshi (Persian) and Maulvi qualifications from Nagpur University. His academic journey culminated in a teaching career as a lecturer at Mahatma Gandhi Urdu High School, Washim.
A passionate poet, SAJID Naqshbandi began writing in the 1980s, and his poetry—rich with devotion to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Sufi philosophy—was published in numerous literary magazines between 1980 and 2005. Deeply rooted in spiritualism, he became a disciple of the Naqshbandiya Sufi order, receiving Khilafat in 1987, and has since guided many disciples (mureeds) on the path of Sufism.
Currently residing in Nagpur, Maharashtra, he continues to inspire through his spiritual guidance and literary contributions, upholding the values of faith, love, and Sufi tradition.
