'Master, owner'; lord, prince, a title of Mohammadan nobles (especially of those of Mogal or Paṭhān descent); a common adjunct of Afg̠ān or Paṭhān names (the title of ḵẖān, or ḵẖān-ṣāḥib, is also applied to native physicians, musicians, &c.);—the head-man or chief of several villages:—ḵẖān-ḵẖānān, s.m.
