A صفا ṣafā (inf. n. of صفا, rt. صفو 'to be clear,' &c.), s.f. Clearness, transparency; polish, brightness; cleanness, purity; serenity (of life or mind); freedom from trouble; comfort; content; complacency; happiness, joy, pleasure, recreation;—name of a mountain near Mecca;—adj. Pure, clean, &c. (=ṣāf, q.v.):—ṣafāʼaṉ-ṣāf, adj. 'Smacksmooth,' without a trace or vestige:—ṣafā-paẕīr, adj. Endowed with integrity, sincere; purified, pure; purged:—ṣafā-ćaṭ karnā or kar-ḍālnā, v.t. To make smack-smooth, to lick (a platter) perfectly clean; to make a clean shave of, to shave clean.
