A فدا fidā (inf. n. of فدي 'to give a ransom; to ransom,' &c.), s.f. A ransom; redemption; sacrifice; consecration, devotion; devoting oneself (to save another); a thing devoted;—adj. Devoted (to); sacrificed or dying (for):—fidā karnā, v.t. To sacrifice (a thing, or oneself, for), to devote (oneself, or a thing, for, or to, -par, or -ke ūpar, or meṅ):—fidā honā, v.n. To become a ransom (for), be sacrificed (for, -kī), to be devoted (for or to, -par).
