A واجب wājib (act. part. of وجب 'to be necessary,' &c.), adj. Necessary, obligatory, binding, incumbent (on); expedient; proper, worthy; convenient; fit, meet;—due, right, just, reasonable:—wājib thā 'arẓ kiyā, It was right and proper (and so) I have represented or mentioned it (an expression used at the end of petitions):—wājib jānnā or samajhnā, v.t. To deem necessary, or incumbent, or right, &c.:—wājib samjho, Consider incumbent, or imperative, &c.; fail not:—wājibuʼl-adā, adj. Necessary to be discharged (as duties, or debts, &c.); due; payable:—wājibuʼl-iz̤hār, adj. Fit to be represented:—wājibuʼt-taslīm, adj. Worthy of acceptance; acceptable; receivable:—wājibuʼt-taʻzīr, adj. Worthy of punishment; punishable:—wājibuʼt-taʻz̤īm, adj. Worthy of respect and attention; venerable:—wājibuʼr-raḥm, adj. Deserving pity or commiseration:—wājibuʼr-riʻāyat, adj. Deserving to be honoured, or to be obeyed; worthy of attention;—excusable, pardonable:—wājibuʼz-ziyārat, adj.
