H لکير लकीर lakīr [S. लेखा + īr = Prk. इल्ली or इली=S. इल+ई; cf. līk], s.f. A line, lineament; a streak, stripe:—lakīr pīṭnā, or lakīr-par faqīr honā, To follow in the track of ancestors; to walk in the beaten path; to move in a groove; to be a slave to old customs or rites;—to make fruitless search for a thing which is lost (com. used in connection with the word sāṅp, 'snake'; e.g. sāṅp nikal-gayā hai, ab lakīr pīṭte haiṅ):—lakīr khaiṅćnā (-par), To draw a line; to mark a boundary; to mark out, strike out (with a pen, &c.);—to renounce, to abjure:—phirtī lakīr, s.f. 'Revolving line'; radius (of a circle):—ćhūtī lakīr, s.f. Touching line, tangent (of a circle).
