H لو लौ lau [Prk. लोआ; S. लोका, rt. लोक्; cf. laukā, lauknā], s.f. Flame (of fire, a candle, &c.), any pointed flame:—lau uṭhnā, or lau nikalnā, v.n. Flame to rise, or to break out; to flame, to blaze.

Absorption, absorbment of mind; deep meditation; attention; devotion; bent (of mind); ardent desire, longing, craving; frequent and long-continued repetition (of any saying, as of a dying man calling on God, or of a lover on his mistress):—lau lagānā (-se), To fix the attention (on), to be intent (on);—to be constant in prayer, or devotion, &c.:—lau lagnā, v.n. To be absorbed (in religious meditation, &c.), to be intent(on);—to have a constant desire or craving (for); to make frequent and long-continued repetition (of any saying, &c.):—lau-līn (see līn), adj. Absorbed (in), intent (on), bent (on); concentrated (on); devoted (to); enamoured (of); rapt (in); eager (for).
