A عہد ʻahd (inf. n. of عہد 'to enjoin'; 'to make a compact,' &c.), s.m. Injunction, charge, mandate; will, testament;—compact, contract, covenant, agreement, engagement,

Holder of a contract; an officer (of the Mogul government) who engaged to collect the revenue of a district for a small percentage:—ʻahd-shikan, adj. & s.m. Promise-breaking, faithless to (one's) word or engagement;—a promise-breaker, one who is faithless to his engagement, &c.:—ʻahd-shikanī (vulg. -shiknī), s.f. H هوڙ हूड़ hūṛ [perhaps S. हुण्डः], adj. & s.m. Forward, impetuous, precipitate, rash, heedless, incautious, imprudent; headstrong; senseless, foolish, stupid, ignorant;—a rash or headstrong man;—a simpleton, blockhead, fool.
