P گوش gosh [old P. gausa; Pārsī and Pehl. gosh; Zend gaosha, fr. gush, 'to hear'; cf. S. घोष, rt. घुष्], s.m. The ear (syn. kān):—gosh-band, s.m. A bandage over the ears:—gosh-peć, s.m. A cap covering the ears against cold;—a shawl twisted round the head and ears (and worn as a turban);—an ornament worn in the turban:—g̠osh-dār, adj. & s.m. Taking care of;—keeper, preserver, protector, guardian:—gosh-dārī, s.f. Preservation, protection; care, attention;—gosh-zad honā, v.n. 'To strike the ear,' to be heard, to be listened to:—gosh karnā, To hear, to listen to:—gosh-guẕār, part. adj. 'Passed into the ear,' heard; reported:—gosh-guẕār karnā, v.t. 'To cause to pass into the ear' (of, -ke), to cause to hear, to inform; to report (to); to impart, to communicate:—gosh-guẕārī, s.f. Report, information, notice:—gosh-māl, or gosh-mālī, s.f. Rubbing or twisting the ears (by way of punishment); chastisement;—rebuke, reproof.
