The cheek; jowl;—a mouthful; a morsel; a handful (as of grain put into a mill at one time);—talk, conversation, speech (cf. Panjābī gal); a story;—prating, nonsense;—boasting, swagger;—a kind of tobacco (for chewing); a quid:—gāl bajānā, To puff out the cheeks and produce a sound by striking them;—to prate, chatter, talk nonsense; to vaunt, vapour:—gāl-par gāl ćaṛhnā, To get very fat cheeks:—gāl-phaṭākī (or gal-phaṭākī), s.f. Scolding, boasting, bragging, vapouring; talking nonsense; uttering falsehoods;—gal-phaṭākī karnā, To scold, &c.:—gāl phulānā, To puff out the cheeks; to pout, sulk;—to puff and swell, to vaunt and vapour:—gāl sujānā = gāl phulānā, q.v.:—gāl seṅknā, To warm or foment the cheek;—s.m. A ceremony observed on the first arrival of the bridegroom at his father-in-law's house, where the relations warm his cheeks as a sign of welcome.
