P ور war (i.q. wār, q.v.), suff. Possessing, having, enjoying, &c. (added to substantives to form adjectives, e.g. jān-war, 'possessing life; a living creature, an animal';—nām-war, 'having a name, famous').

A وعيد waʻīd (inf. n. of وعد 'to threaten,' &c.), s.m. Predicting anything bad, threatening (with);—threat; denunciation; commination;—promising anything good.

P وار wār or vār [Pehl. & Pārsī var; Zend vara (or vare), rt. var; S. वर, rt. वर् (वृ, वृणोति)], suff. Having, possessing, endowed with, full of (e.g. umed-wār, 'hopeful');—becoming, befitting, suiting, fit, suitable (for), worthy (of;—e.g. shāh-wār, 'befitting, or worthy of, a king'; gosh-wār, 'becoming or adorning the ear,' 'an ear-ring');—like, resembling, in the manner of, after the fashion of, according to; after or according to the details of (e.g. ẕarra-wār, 'like an atom';—in this sense it is often added to substantives to form adjectives, e.g. mahīne-wār, 'monthly'; kisht-wār, According to the fields or the crops);—enough or sufficient for, or a quantity sufficient for (e.g. jāma-wār, 'sufficient for a garment'; cf. jāma bhar);—the suffix is sometimes redundant, e.g. sazā-wār = sazā, 'deserving,' &c.

H وار वार wār [S. अवारः], s.m. The near bank (of a river, &c.), this side;—adv. On this side:—wār-pār, or wār-ā-pār, adv. On this side and on that, on both sides; through and through, right through; across;—s.m. Bounds, limits:—wār-pār honā, To pass right through; to get across;—to be tided over (as a difficulty, &c.); to be settled (as a dispute, &c.).
